RONEY MOTORSPORTS---2009 DEMOLITION DERBY RULES

ONLY 1 RE-INSPECTION PER CAR!!
The Roney Motorsports Demo-Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction. In the interest of safety, anyone entering is subject to, and must obey the rules & regulations that are set up by the promoter where this event is being held.
1. Each driver must fill out an entry blank. All drivers must supply their own cars, only one entry per person.
2. Each driver must be 18 years old or must hold a valid drivers license and have a notarized release signed by parent.
4. The track owners or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any entry.
5. Only owners, drivers, mechanics, etc. who sign the release sheet will be permitted in the pit area. Drivers only on the track. Driver & (1) pitman receive free pit passes upon registration. Extra Passes may be purchased.
6. The promoter, track owner or fair association will not be held responsible for any cars, parts, or personal property before, during and after show.
- TOWING AND TRASPORTING CARS -
Transporting of vehicles to and from must meet Ohio Highway Safety codes. (Tow bars, trailers, safety chains, lights)
- TYPE OF CAR -
NO 64-66 Imperial and NO 71-76 GM wagons!! LUCAS County event ONLY!!
Any American made stock; hardtop automobile or station wagon is allowed. No trucks, convertibles, jeeps, hearses, or limos.
- PREPARATION OF CAR -
1. Remove all glass (windows, lights, etc…) Sweep the car out from debris, BEFORE INSPECTION!!
2. Any sharp protruding fins or dangerous objects (mash down or cut off).
3. Chrome molding strips and bottom portion of back seats must be removed.
4. Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended.
5. No altering of bumpers, special bumpers, reinforcements, fabrications, or trailer hitches permitted.
6. GM-to-GM car, Chrysler-to-Chrysler car, etc… on bumpers to be used.
7. All doors must be fastened shut by wire, straps, chained or welded (steel no bigger than 3” in width and 1/8” thick) Note: any metal wider or thicker is ILLEGAL and will be removed!!
8. Radiators, transmissions coolers and heaters must remain in original position or in engine compartment. Radiator overflow hose must point STRAIGHT DOWN!!
· NO welding of the radiator support area. (No re-tacking welds here and there!!)
9. No spray devises or cans allowed in cars.
10. Don’t weld inner-outer fenders together. Cutting fenders for wheel clearance is permissible, inner fender may be bolted to outer fender - 4-bolt max above wheel. (Max. bolt size is 1”inch)
11. Only ONE battery, any size, is allowed. It MUST be securely fastened and COMPLETELY covered. NO MILK CRATES ALLOWED!!
12. No body mounts modification. Additional mounts or moving mounts NOT allowed!! Must have a rubber bushing between frame and body!! (½” max. body bolt size, NO all-thread)
13. WASHER RULE: a total of 2 washers per side THAT’S IT (Note: “3&1”, “3&2”, “4&0”, etc… are not “2&2” NO EXCEPTIONS!! (Thus no more than 2 washers in a stack!!)
14. WASHER RULE: Maximum outside diameter of the washer will be 3” inches (Note: 3 1/8”, 3 ¼”, 3½”, etc… will NOT BE ACCEPTED AS 3” inches! Washers must be of standard washer thickness.
15. Hood, trunk or tailgate may be wired in 6 places each, 2 strands of wire per hold. Wiring must be from sheet metal to sheet metal in 4 places. In 2 places, it may be wired around bumper from sheet metal. Official’s decision over use of wire. No band, bolts, pins, or cables can be used. Hoods must remain on cars.
16. NO WELDS ON TRUNK, HOOD, OR TAILGATE. Thus, if your car HAS been welded on the trunk, tailgate, or hood for another derby it is ILLEGAL!! And must be changed! If a piece of metal has been welded to help secure it and then the piece is cut down the middle you need to totally remove the added piece or it is ILLEGAL!!
17. Exhaust stacks/ headers must point directly upwards!!
18. Firewalls may not be totally removed. If altered, the hole must be covered with something fireproof
19. Drivers door must be painted White. Please no White Cars for your safety.
20. Stock gas tanks MUST be removed from the original position!! Replacement tank must be placed in the trunk or back seat area and no farther forward than the rear of front seat; all tanks must be securely fastened to floor and covered; a portable tank (DOT approved) is recommended in place of the original. Approximately five (5) gallons of gas are permitted per heat. Gas tanks and fuel lines must be completely covered before inspection. Steel gas tanks or Neoprene Construction approved tanks can be used. No ORIGINAL TANKS may be used. Electric fuel pumps must have a clearly marked on/off switch.
· Tank protectors are ok. (Must protect the immediate tank. NOT EXCESSIVE!!) TANK KICKERS ARE ILLEGAL!! (officials decision final)
· Leaf springs may NOT be boxed in!! Must be attached by a hanging shackle or hold cut into frame and a bolt may be ran threw the frame to be bolted!! (officials decision final)
· You can short leaf a car. Please use the same guidelines as using regular leaf spring conversion.
· Leafs can be on top or under the axle as long as it meets the heights requirements of the rear bumper.
35. A 3" maximum support bar is recommended from left front door post to right front door post directly behind front seat and no higher than the back of the seat. Another 3" maximum support bar is recommended from left front door post to right front door post, above steering column, where the dashboard would be --- no higher than original dash (end plate of each end of pipe may be no bigger than 1’ square plate with 3/8” thickness).
36. Bumper shocks may be welded on.
37. Bumpers may be bolted on. If welded on, you can weld STOCK BRACKETS ONLY!! You CANNOT weld home-made brackets/braces to the frame or bumper!!
38. NO undercoating or painting of frame.
39. If trunk is tucked shut, 1 inspection hole (24" x 24"). “MUST” be cut into the trunk Lid. ANY DISCREPANCIES AND TRUNK OPENS.
40. No spring blocks, helpers, collapsers, or wedges inside of springs. Shocks cannot be welded, stuffed, or collapsed.
41. Bumper height is as follows: 24” maximum and 16” minimum from bottom of bumper!!
43. Car frames may be drilled at any time during the day of the event!!
45. FINAL WINNERS WILL BE INSPECTED.
- RUNNING -
A. Seat belt or Safety belt, Z-90 approved helmet (full face recommended) GOGGLES OR FACE SHIELD ARE REQUIRED.
B. Neck braces are highly recommended!!
C. Fire retardant suits, clothing or hood is recommended for personal safety. (NO shorts and must wear shirt)
D. NO deliberate head-on collisions and NO deliberate hitting in driver's door.
E. Vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times and Boundaries observed.
F. NO alcohol or drugs on track or in the PIT area.. ANYONE under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately disqualified.
G. No cars are permitted in the competition area before the heat in which they are to participate.
H. A vehicle will be disqualified if the driver’s door comes open during the heat, or catches fire.
I. An Approximate one-minute time limit will be enforced by the track officials for making competitive contact with another car. HITS MUST BE AGGRESSIVE. No sandbagging.
J. All cars are to be removed from the fairgrounds following the show or they will become property of the Fair Board and the officials will have them removed (unless otherwise specified at the driver's meeting). A removal deposit will be required. TITLE MUST BE TURNED IN ON ALL CARS LEFT FOR JUNK
K. A $100.00 Protest fee is required to contest another car. If you are a driver, you must give the head track official $100 cash! You then must state what car is illegal and where it is illegal. If you are right you WILL get your $100 back, if you are wrong, you will forfeit that $100
L. Fire extinguisher is recommended at close reach in driver's compartment.
M. Any driver or crewmember disobeying the rules will cause his or her car to be disqualified. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for disqualification and barring from future derbies.
N. DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THEIR CREW MEMBERS.
O. The car qualifies for the feature, not the driver. (No Switching Cars!!!)
- Mini Cars -
1. Mini cars must have no more 107” wheelbase.
2. No V-8 motors will be allowed in mini cars. Only 4 and 6 cylinder Motors permitted.
3. Mini cars are subject to all of the same rules and regulations as the regular cars.
4. Electric fuel pumps must have a clearly marked on/off switch located inside the car!!
** THESE RULES SUPERCEDE ANY AND ALL RULES PREVIOUSLY USED. RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE ACCORDING TO RONEY MOTORSPORTS RULES COMMITTEE. DECISION OF THE OFFICIAL JUDGE IS FINAL.

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to prove for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall serve the conditions of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sports and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official. The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specification herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptance requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OR SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials and the Fair Boards.
